An exploration of pain and healing in relation to the female body through the use of body modification. By using the body as an art object, and mimicking the techniques such as piercing, threading, and tightening, which are commonly used in fabrics, themes of objectification and control can be effectively addressed. The graphic or vulnerable nature of the piece is essential to allow viewers to confront their own ideas of pain, beauty and bodily autonomy. - Ava Giannobile
